One of my ‘students’ told me he had lost over €80.000 because of a language mistake in a contract that had been used in Court. Apparently he wasn’t aware of the new revolution that had recently taken place in the world of Legal English. He had used one too many synonyms and the judge decided that each word had a different meaning, leaving a gap for the contestant.
Since then he, of course, did not want to take the same risk again.
